Since the movie is to begin filming in October, here's a new thread for the newest news, articles, and updates on...

THE WORLD'S END

Image

Announced at Comic Con! Universal Pictures has green lit The World's End, directed by Edgar Wright and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. This will be the third film in the Cornetto Trilogy. They have also released a teaser one-sheet.

"I am beyond excited that we have finally started the the process that will bring Edgar, Nick and myself together again. Locations are being sought, characters cast and before long we will be bringing this anthology of gelato and plasma to a close. It's a cliche I know but I genuinely think we have saved the best 'til last." - Simon Pegg

The World's End: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World's End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries.

Love Rosamunde Pike.

(Hope she's one of the main characters, and not just 'girlfriend of')

I like that the article mentions Martin Freeman was in Shaun of the Dead, but forgets he was in Hot Fuzz too. :P

Eddie Marsan's great - he was recently very good in The Best of Men. (and his comedy credentials go way back to an episode of Game On)

Martin Freeman!! I hope he gets a bigger role rather than just a cameo.

Nice to see some pics of filming (finally!).

Wonder why Simon's got an 'out of order' sticker on his t-shirt.

Have we mentioned yet that Reece Shearsmith is in the cast too?
Oh yeah! I had'nt fort-a-dat!

I saw some of the pics on Tumblr but then I felt very guilty for reblogging them.
At Simon's Q&A the other night he talked about how difficult it is to keep anything under wraps these days and that they want everything to be as much of a surprise as possible, but that things are always leaking and people take pictures which end up all over the internet, etc.
He was saying it's sad that it's no longer possible for people to present the results of their labours in the way they choose to. :(

So I don't think I'll be reblogging any more sneaky on-set pics I come across.

Awww. But I don't think the shots (if its the ones above) of them walking along give anything away.

And as annoying as it is, rather that than no one being interested.

Think it would be a rare person indeed to have that hapening in their small (I'm guessing quite boring) town and to not take photos. I think I would! :nono:

I think it would take a hell of a lot to ruin it for me, have a feeling it will def be my favourite of the trilogy. :lovey:

That's so cool. Simon has been saying that he's having way too much fun on-set. He mentioned during the Fantastic Fear Q&A that Martin Freeman had to leave the set the other day because of giggling too much!

Yeah, I felt a twinge of guilt for looking at those sneaky set pics too after he said that. I hope he realises that whatever is leaked, the whole movie will still be a wonderful surprise when we finally see it, just like the other films have been. I remember hungrily reading everything I could about Hot Fuzz before it came out, & yet still being swept up in the story & being surprised many times. But I will try to avoid very spoilery things, especially if this film comes out weeks/months ahead in other countries before it does in Australia.

Feel the love.
dolfyn.

Well I won't argue that it was a no-holds-barred adrenaline-fuelled thrill-ride, but there's no way you could perpetrate that amount of carnage & mayhem & not incur a considerable amount of paperwork.
