Do you mean PBS? Public TV's not meant to be entirely educational, it's more about arts programming in general and they've shown a lot of stuff that's just plain good TV over the years. And movies. Hell, I first saw Spinal Tap on PBS when I was about thirteen. ;)

I used to watch Keeping Up Appearances on PBS all the time. Maybe it was because they showed Sesame Street is where the thoughts of education are associated with it.

Wait...Nic, are you telling me that Spinal Tap is not educational? :bugeyes: :wink: :lol2:

The Red Dwarf episode I was thinking of is the one where they meet a "Pleasure GELF" (Genetically Engineered Life Form) who transforms to the most pleasing form for each person she meets.

Rimmer sees a studious type who of course happens to be a hologram just like him.
Lister sees a rocker chick in a leather jacket, and Cat (because he is so egotistical) sees himself! :lol:

So I guess that means
Nick = Rimmer!
The friend = Lister
Simon = The Cat!
:rofl:

Yeah , PBS. Sure it's arts programing with education but you have to admit, it is British heavy. There was an English show about doctors on PBS when I was young that showed randy docs with alot of nudity. I loved it but Mom made me stop watching it when I called her a "bloody wanker" when she made me clean my room.

I'm pressed for time right now, but are we still speculating as to what this film will be about? If so... Did anyone mention a comedic period piece? Like 1400's British Naval officers searching for the end of the world? Or the edge of the world?

I have one question about that. Dis 1400's British naval officers wear powdered wigs? Because I'm trying to picture Simon and Nick........

period piece would be a departure from the trilogy theme but not a bad idea. I am wondering if they have even started, they are so busy.

Sorry to be jumping in way late...

Maybe this is just a trick name to throw us all off the scent completely? :wink:

It was mentioned on this thread at least once, and Simon said: "If Shaun of the Dead was about leaving your 30s and taking responsibility," says Pegg, "and Hot Fuzz was about being a man, then the next one will be about being an old man," Pegg bursts out laughing, "being f---ing 40, which I am approaching. Edgar isn't, the little bastard."

So the World's End could be a mid-life crisis that seems like the end of the world? Of course that could fit into just about any movie genre, so it doesn't really help, but it might explain the title.

As much as I hate to say this, a Thelma & Louise ending. :D

I thought Thelma and Lousie too! Or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid "For a moment there I thought we were in trouble." Since it's not just the end of a movie, it's the end of the trilogy, I imagine the ending will be epic :)

And from imdb: "When Edgar finishes Scott Pilgrim and Simon finishes Paul they'll work on this project". Which means they'll start it soon, right? Right!?

Hello again, I might have come in from the cold - Having seen SPvsTW today I'm on bit of a buzz!

Anyroad, what I wanted to say was that EW was on BBC radio Five this afternoon and gave the impression (to me) that there was to be no rush as they wanted to only do it (mint cornetto) when they had an idea that was worthy of running with. The clip may well be on the iplayer so it may be worth checking out.

when I say 'to me' i should add that he was talking to the nation, i wasn't in the room!

Yes, it's also available via iTunes right now, if you type in "BBC Five Live" in the iTunes store. It'll be up until the next podcast goes up this Friday. ;)
