This just isn't fair, so many people I like in a film that I just don't want to see. :(

Why don't you want to see this movie?

To put it in a nutshell: He doesn't want to see it because rumour says that it's going to be a black comedy (which I have to agree that if this is not a comedy, I will have more enthusiasm).

What's wrong with a black comedy :? ..Simon has done black comedy before and so has Landis...it can still be considered a serious movie with moments of comedy...a lot of people put American Werewolf in London into the horror comedy category...sure there is a couple of parts you laugh at but for the most part it is a pretty solid horror movie.

Serkis's casting hits the trades... as does that of Isla Fisher (in the female lead) and Tom Wilkinson (eeee!) in the key role of Dr. Knox:

I saw the article in The Hollywood Reporter Online too. Tom Wilkinson was excellent in "The Full Monty" and "In the Bedroom". Ilsa Fisher was cute in "Confessions of a Shopaholic". I read somewhere that John Cleese (Monty Python) is also part of the cast. I do hope that is true! It is shaping up to be an interesting film. John Landis is one of my favorite horror directors. "I loved "An American Werewolf in London". There were some funny bits, but all-in-all it was a solid horror film. I don't mind black comedy. "Big Nothing" was a black comedy and Simon was very good in it. I am looking forward to "Burke and Hare".

I've posted this before I'm sure, but because it deals with historical fact rather than being a story based in that time period, I feel that the film just isn't best served by making it a comedy, black or otherwise. That's just my opinion, though.

When the change of casting was announced I was both thrilled since Serkis is just as awesome, and saddened. Tennant/Pegg was probably too good to be true...

Got this from Caz over one Spaced-Out

Looking at the IMDb Page http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1320239/ for this film Jess, Bill Bailey, Reece Shearsmith and Michael Smiley are all in it too! That would be very cool!

I hope these are all true!
Simon said we would squee over some of the other casting decisions.
And if the stuff on imdb is true I shall certainly be doing just that!

*ETA* I also see Stephen Merchant and Ronnie Corbett's names on there!

From Simon on Twitter...

Quote:
@SimonPegg Today John Landis directed a scene with my 7 month old daughter in his arms. I have been a fan of his since I was 13. Squee doesn't cover it

This is why I love Simon so much (well, one of the reasons).
I'm not ashamed to say I got a tear in my eye reading that.
Bless.

That was very cute...I just pictured Landis sitting there with this adorable baby in his lap.
